BLACK CHERRY FIGURED (CURLY) CHERRY) ELM
QUARTERSAWN WHITE OAK RED OAK SASSAFRAS
QUARTERSAWN SYCAMORE BLACK WALNUT
Updated Weekly: Our stock varies weekly on hardwood, and it sells fast so I don't keep a large inventory and sometimes run out. You won't find wood of this high quality at any home improvement store for twice the price. Most commercial kilns use harsh processes, and even bleach wood to give a consistent but bland color. Our kiln dried wood retains its natural pigments. The color and vibrancy is amazing. We also carry thicker grades of hardwoods should you need them. My wood is less than half the price of what you would pay in the big retail stores and is a much better quality. I look at every board to make sure there are no surprises and grade my wood very critically and follow the NHLA (National Hardwood Lumber Association) grading rules. I encourage folks to take their time and buy only the boards they want and not to feel pressured. There is no minimum, buy just one board if you like. I spend a great deal of time and effort making sure I have the best kiln dried lumber around, and I sure don't mind you looking over every board you buy.
We run them thru our new (1940's) Whitney planer to flatten the top and bottom of each board. On a 4/4 (1") board, our aim is to give you a board that is flat and 7/8" thick. Its important that there are no surprises and customers know what they are buying. So instead of just being rough sawn, our lumber has two smooth surfaces which some folks use without further planing. We generally don't finish plane all the way to 3/4 inch because some folks like to work with the thicker boards. If you want us to plane the boards to a final dimension or edge joint them, we can do it for an additional fee.
